As an avid football fan, it is important to have the proper nutrients on hand for playoff season. It is vital to have enough energy to last the 3+ hours for each game. It is also necessary to have food to drown your sorrows if you team is playing poorly or loses.
Snacks
1. mixed nuts
2. chips & dip
3. pretzels
4. popcorn
These are each delicious choices, and will provide you with sustenance for the pre-game show until your main food arrives (or is finished cooking). Also recommended because you can throw them at your expensive plasma when your team does something stupid.
This is my favorite salsa recipe from Dinosaur BBQ cookbook.
Fire-Roasted Garlic Salsa
2.5 lbs tomatoes
1 bulb roasted garlic
2 tsp kosher salt
5 tbsp diced red onion
2 tbsp minced jalapeno pepper
2 tbsp fresh lime juice
3 tbsp minced cilantro
1 tbsp honey
black pepper
tabasco sauce
1. Roast tomatoes directly over heat source (gril, gas burner of broiler), turn til skins just blacken
2. peel, and then cut them in half, squeeze halves over bowl to gred rid of seeds and juice. Dice the flesh and put in a bowl
3. Squeeze garlic cloves out of their skins, add a pinch of salt, and mash to a paste
4. mix into the tomatoes w/2 tsp of salt, onions, jalapenos, lime jluice, cilatnro, honey, pepper and tabasco. Puree half the salsa in a food processor. Stire the pureed and remaining salsa together.
Yummmmmm.
Depending on your motivation level and cooking ability, you can order in pizza/wings/breadsticks or make your own food.
Personally I prefer grill food.
1. bratwursts
2. italian sausages w/onions and peppers
3. ribs
4. But also nachoes
Nachoes
1. bag of nacho/tostito chips
1 lb ground meat
taco seasoning
chopped onions
minced garlic
chopped peppers (mild or spicy)
1 cup shredded cheese per layer
Preheat oven to 375
Brown meat, drain and add taco seasoning (according to taco box instruction or taco seasoning instructions)
Layer chips in a ceramic dish (or any large pan or dish you have) the one we use is oval about 12" (The number of layers is up to you, we usually do 1 or 2)
Spread cheese, then hamburger
Add onions, garlic, peppers, and any other seasonings you might like.
Put in oven for about 10 minutes, or until edges are brown. Enjoy.
